The Best Back-to-School Portraits and Worksheet Wednesday

I have a fun idea for Back-to-School photos for your students or own kids!  I wish I would have thought of this sooner; I would have started when Garyn was old enough to "like" something and express it.  What a keepsake it would be!  But better late than never.
So this year we'll start with

Have you ever heard that joke, "You know your Mom's a teacher, when you have pizza for dinner and she just has to talk about fractions?" Well, I said to Garyn, "Hey, let's fill out this sheet about how awesome you are!"  "Do I need a pencil?" he says.  I nod my head.  He gives me a look like, "Woman, we're on Summer Break.  Give it a rest already."  This is what we he had fun completing for me...

After we finished that and he went back to his video game, I took his answers, sat down at the computer and made this Back-to-School Portrait of him:
Then I thought, "This would be awesome to do for students as a Back-to-School Portrait for their portfolios or a Mother's Day present!"  So that's my plan and I'm going to take one of Garyn every year around this time of year every year to keep as mementos of his growing up and different favorites.

Here are printables you can use with your students or your own kids (there's one for girls and one for boys)

I'm linking up with The Teaching Tribune's Worksheet Wednesday, so follow the link below to find more wonderful worksheets!

Yesterday, I finally finished a graphic set for this Autumn, The Fall Kids!  Included are 21 images, 12 PNG and 9 Line Art.  These will be perfect for the upcoming Fall season.  I just love how the pumpkin girls and apple boy turned out!  You can find them here.  And they're even HALF-OFF for today only...

Peace Out,

  2. Hi Cara - lovely worksheets - my only problem is I would need spellings of "favourite" and "colour" for my students here in England - would there be any chance of this? I totally understand if there isn't - I will just have to get the tippex out!!

    1. Traveling Teacher, I really appreciate your kind comments! My son really doesn't like to take pictures; he hates that I always want just the perfect smile so it takes forever to get that "right" one. I'll make sure to let him know that you liked it! Thanks so much for visiting, Cara;)

  7. The back to school portrait is such a great idea. I'm not tech savvy, so did you put the photo in power point and then type onto it? How big is the picture? Thanks. I need all the help I can get!!!!

    1. Hello Ursula! Hey, I'm not that tech savvy either. But it sounds like you got it right on...put the photo into Power Point, type onto it, and save! The photo I used to type on was about 8 x 10, but then save it as another photo after you type on it. Then it can be resized to whatever size you want and the type will stay in the same scale you saved it as. I hope that makes sense. Email me at caraelizabethtaylor@gmail.com and I'd be more than happy to work through it with you;) Cara

I will use the prize to get some innovative and creative items that I am not as talented to make. I love the back to school printable. Thanks for sharing.
